Let’s Talk… would you substitute meat for crickets?

Can you already see yourself putting ‘crickets’ on your shopping list? Are sustainable food alternatives like crickets something you can get behind? What about maggots and other insects? Should it be considered a menu option in cafeterias? Or does the idea make you throw up already?

The Medical Faculty Association Rotterdam (MFVR) offered crickets to put on your toast as meat substitute during lunch. Is this an option you would consider when looking for a quick bite? If eating insects is more environmentally friendly, would you use it to replace meat in your meals?

If snails are accepted as a well-known delicacy and consumed by many, why not do the same for crickets? Is the initial mental barrier keeping you from eating insects? If so, then maybe it just takes time getting used to it? Or is it that they are often not prepared properly? What if you stir fry them or add some spices? Is eating insects as a sustainable food alternative something you encourage? We love to hear your opinion.
