How soon the Rotterdam campus will get there and where it will be located is yet to be determined, according to the Delft university administration. It is also not clear how many students can be accommodated there, reports news platform Delta.
The Rotterdam location will host new technical bachelor and master programmes in the fields of healthcare, climate and energy supply. The TU says it mainly wants to recruit Dutch students.
Niet te behappen
The municipality of Delft has been saying for years that it can no longer cope with the growing number of students. The university administration is therefore trying to shrink Delft to 25,000 students from 2026. Currently, there are 28,000. The new Rotterdam campus offers an opportunity to still meet society’s need for engineers, the university writes on its site.
The decision is not yet final. It must first be submitted to the TU’s university council and supervisory board.
