New sports building repurposed old prison roof
The new Erasmus Sport building opened about two weeks ago, yet quite a few classes are already happening inside. Assistant manager Elvira Bruinen gave a tour of the new building.
Erasmus Sport made significant sustainable development to improve the new building. “All the wood that we’ve used here is second-hand”, Bruinen explained. “We have real plants, to improve circulation inside the building, and we also repurposed the roof of a decommissioned youth prison.”
The Erasmus Sport Cafe also seems destined to become the favourite spot of many visitors, including Elvira herself. Hriday Govid, a Business analytics and management student, mentioned how his first impression of the new cafe was very positive. “I think this is the place where we can get the cheapest and good food on campus.”
