Brasil studied the Bachelor in Bedrijfskunde at RSM between 2017 and 2020 and her plan was to continue in the Master in Supply Chain Management programme. She was wonderfully optimistic and very much dedicated to her studies and even after her diagnosis had planned on taking some master courses to stay connected with the Supply Chain Management community. However, due to her illness she decided to postpone her studies to temporarily focus on the fun things in life and wanted to return the next academic year. We were looking forward to welcoming her back.

Always there for others

Brasil was an active member in RSM’s study association, STAR, where she held various roles, including chair and treasurer of the RSM Eureka Week Committee in 2018/2019. The STAR activity team, the BA study trip, the International Care Committee and STAR Erasmus Consulting also benefitted greatly from her commitment and effort.

In addition to this, Brasil took a big interest in supporting the local community of Rotterdam, where she was very much involved in the Talent Competition of Rotterdam 100 and committed to her work for After’s Cool – a programme assisting secondary school students with their homework.

Paying tribute to Brasil

But most of all, Brasil was a lover of music. She was an avid visitor of famous pop festivals such as Lowlands and was a regular guest at the legendary Dutch music temple Paradiso Amsterdam.  Having been informed about her illness, the organizers of Lowland Festileaks organized an impressive tribute to Brasil and her passion for music- a Lowlands concert dedicated to her – in the Paradiso. The images and sound of the event say everything about how much she impacted the lives of those around her. She will be greatly missed.

A memorial has been set up on T-5 of the Mandeville building for those who wish to pay their respects. Our thoughts are with Brasil’s parents Jos and Erly and with Rover and Artis: we wish them strength with bearing this loss.
