University lowers binding study advice by six to nine points

The binding study advice is lowered this year for first-year EUR students. The university is lowering the norm because of the corona crisis, just like the past two years.

Instead of all sixty credits, 51 to 54 credits – which varies per programme – are enough to start the second year. In all programmes a less strict binding study advice applies. Medicine and the part-time programmes of the Erasmus School of Law use a different number of ECs, the binding study advice is normally lower there as well.

The fourteen Dutch universities already announced last week that they would lower the binding study advice by 10 to 15 percent. With this relaxation, they hope to take away some of the stress that the coronation measures cause to students.

Future bsa uncertain

In the past two academic years, the university also relaxed the binding study advice because of corona. Meanwhile, the future of the binding study advice is uncertain. The new cabinet writes in the coalition agreement that it will be adjusted so that students can still achieve the score standard in the second year.
