EUR student addresses rioters with chalk and posters
Wiersema got to work with posters and pavement chalk. On the pavements of Rotterdam South texts appeared such as ‘Take it easy’ and ‘Peace, not riot’. Unfortunately, the wet autumn weather washed away the appeals. Posters also appeared with texts like ‘Riot? Don’t call me!’, ‘Get through the pandemic without a brick’ and ‘Lockdowns are painful for us too’ were displayed on the windows and walls of shops in the area.
And whether it was because of the heavy rain on Friday evening or the positive messages of the local residents, there was no rioting on the Beijerlandselaan that evening.
