Floris van Mulligen completed his bachelor in Fiscal Economics and Economics and Business Economics in June. Floris was known as a positive person, with a keen eye for his fellow students.
“Floris was a true Rotterdammer and in many ways a very special guy”, says fellow student Siebe. “With his good looks and good style, he was an attraction everywhere he went, also at the University. Not only his looks caught the eye, but also his inner self and positive energy. He impressed everyone with his friendliness, helpfulness, loyalty, optimism and his genuine interest in other people and fellow students.”
“In that respect he was unique and that makes his loss even greater. He also had an enormous zest for life. Alongside his studies at Erasmus University, he had a long culinary career. He knew a lot about wine and good food and enjoyed this – together with family and friends – very much. Floris was a sociable, flourishing, unique and connecting person who we will miss very much. We are grateful for the time we were able to spend with him.”
Our thoughts are with Floris’ girlfriend, family, friends and fellow students. We wish them a lot of strength to bear this loss.

The Dutch poem below was written by Jonasz Dekkers, a friend of Floris:
Het licht dat Floris heet
Een vederlicht gedicht
Voor een teder lichtgewicht,
Geruisloos neergedaald
Ons allen, even aangeraakt
Bijna geen gewicht
Als de zonnestraal
die zelfs even
de achterkant van de maan verlicht
Een oneindige glimlach
fier op zijn gezicht
Altijd geopend
zelden dicht
Dus kijk uit over zijn Binnenweg
Zie hem fietsen, groeten, zwaaien
Maar huil niet
want hij, hij is nimmer weg
Pak elkaar stevig beet
Want hij,
hij behelsde alles
dat ertoe deed
Hij, is het licht dat Floris heet
