Students take to the streets against loan system

Gepubliceerd op:

About 150 students gathered at the Grote Markt in Groningen on Tuesday. They waved flags and held up signs with slogans. The protest, organised by the unions LSVb and FNV Young & United, was aimed against the loan system and high study costs.

The protest had to be coronaproof: there were hoops on the ground so that everyone could keep enough distance from each other. The protesters want young people to be able to study ‘debt-free’. In addition, they demand compensation for students who have missed out on the basic grant in recent years.

Not in Rotterdam

Wednesday there is a demonstration in Nijmegen, Friday Zwolle and Utrecht and Saturday Amsterdam. Monday, March 15 is the final protest in Wageningen.

The series of demonstrations is part of the #Nietmijnschuld (Not my debt) campaign of the National Union of Students LSVb and FNV Young & United. In Rotterdam, no action is planned yet.
