At Thursday’s press conference, Prime Minister Mark Rutte will announce that the Cabinet wants to cancel the introductory weeks for students. That’s what sources say to RTL Nieuws.

Tomorrow the official decision will be made, but the insiders consider the chances that the introductory weeks will still take place to be very small, writes RTL.
In Rotterdam, the debate about whether or not to continue the Eurekaweek has been going on a bit longer, because there are relatively many Covid-19 infections among students in the city. Wednesday, student association RSC/RVSV already announced that it would cancel all physical activities during the Eurekaweek. A day earlier, students started a campaign against corona, hoping that the mayor would allow physical activities to continue during the week.

Mayor Ahmed Aboutaleb was planning to take a decision this week about the granting of permits for the Eurekaweek, but the cabinet might be quicker than him. If the permit isn’t granted, the Eurekaweek will have to take place online entirely.
Rutte and Minister Hugo de Jonge will give a press conference about the corona measures on Thursday evening at 19.00 hours.
