Students in the ICU: following online education next to working at the ICU

Since the Erasmus MC Education Center is closed for students, Britt and her fellow students follow online education. It’s not always easy, she says, especially after long shifts in the intensive care. “The other day, after an afternoon shift, I came home completely exhausted. I wasn’t really looking forward to watching online lectures in the evening.”
Fortunately, students can indicate how many and in which shift they want to work, Britt says. “For example, this week I will be taking three night shifts so that I can study during the day.”
Even though she still has to get used to planning her time differently, studying remains important. “You don’t know when you have an exam, so it’s important to keep up because you really can’t catch up at the last minute.”
