Patrick Groenen has been a member of the faculty as professor of Statistics since 2002. According to the university’s Executive Board, Groenen has the ability ‘to build internal and external connections’ and ‘further strengthen education and research within the faculty’. “Groenen has an outstanding academic track record, and his experience working within our university will allow him to excel in his role as manager of our university’s oldest faculty,” says rector magnificus Rutger Engels.
The welfare of the staff
Groenen currently also serves as the Director of ESE’s Econometric Institute. He will be handing over this responsibility as of 1 May. Another position he stepped down from is that of Director of Doctoral Education at the Erasmus Research Institute of Management (ERIM). In his new role of ESE Dean, Groenen will be continuing a share of his education activities.
Groenen’s foremost priority will be the welfare of the staff. “For me, every colleague – whether a member of the support staff or the academic staff – plays an important part in ESE’s success,” says Groenen. “I look forward to contributing in my new role as Dean of this wonderful faculty.”
The ESE Dean’s Office
Frank van der Duijn Schouten has served as ESE’s Interim Dean since 1 February 2019. He combined this role with a second appointment as Interim Dean of the Erasmus School of History, Culture and Communication (ESHCC).
