Staircase Run 2019: ‘It’s so intense’
The participating students agree that the course was ‘intense’. “At some point I couldn’t continue,” says a student. “I thought I was already there, but I was only halfway through the distance.” The participants could choose from two challenges: ten floors or eighteen floors.
Last year’s winner Peter Boom broke his own record. With a time of 1 minute and 36 seconds, he was six seconds faster over the longest distance than in 2018. “I’m completely fucked up right now, but also very happy,” he says. As a winner, he’s awarded a free dinner at the Mexican restaurant Popocatepetl.
The Staircase Run is an annual race in which participants must conquer the stairs of the Tinbergen building as quickly as possible. Watch the event coverage here:
