According to the Foundation’s website, the network focuses on modernisation, diversity and social fairness in higher education. Important themes in pursuing these goals include digitisation, mobility, student employability and policy innovation. European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker was one of the founders of the network.
‘Delighted and proud’
During an EUF meeting in Ghent attended by EUR Executive Board President Kristel Baele, Erasmus University was officially admitted as a member. “I’m delighted and proud that we are the first Dutch university to become a member of the EUF. Future-oriented education is important for Erasmus University, and it’s one of the seven priorities in the strategic framework that forms the foundation of the new strategy. By becoming an EUF member, we can actively contribute ideas and participate in accelerating the modernisation of higher education in Europe. Through the EUF we can also make sure our voice is heard in Brussels. What’s more, the values embodied by the EUF are closely aligned with Erasmus University’s values.
There has been a partnership in place between EUR and the EUF since 2016. Both organisations have collaborated in the Online Learning Agreement project, a digital resource meant to simplify preparatory work for exchanges.
