Polluted air in Sanders Building

Last month an Erasmus School of Law employee suffered an asthma attack, after which EUR conducted a microbiological examination of the building’s air quality, which showed that the air in the building was indeed polluted.

It is as yet unclear why the air purifier malfunctioned and whether the employee’s asthma attack was related to the malfunction. EUR spokesman Jacco Neleman informed EM that the examination report is considered an internal document. “Sometimes it takes a while to get the air quality in a new building right,” Neleman told us. “That was the case here too.”

In order to remove the polluted air from the structure, EUR thoroughly ventilated and cleaned the Sanders Building last week. EUR says it will keep a close eye on the building’s air quality from now on. “We will regularly carry out indoor climate measurements and microbiological tests,” said Neleman.
