Jeffrey is mad about parties, Esmeralda is always looking for unusual happenings and Manon loves culture. Together they give you the best tips for a great day or evening out in Rotterdam.
Manon’s tip: Breakfast at KINO: 20th Century Women
What’s your perfect Sunday morning? Mine always starts with a leisurely breakfast. And going out for breakfast is one of my favourite weekend activities. A delicious croissant or American pancakes, my mouth is watering at the thought. On Sunday 2 April, I’ll be eating my fill at Breakfast at KINO. From 11.00 a.m., you can start with a lovely breakfast and then relax in the cinema. After breakfast, they’re showing the film 20th Century Women. The film follows the story of three women who discover love and freedom in the 1970s, seen through the eyes of a 15 year old boy. The film has received good reviews and the trailer looks promising! Watch it here. Sound like a good start to your Sunday? Book in time, because places are limited! A ticket for breakfast + film costs 19.50 euros. With a Cinevillepas, you get a 10 euro discount!

Jeffrey’s tip: Motel Mozaique Festival
A festival, you say?! Yes indeed! And this marks the start of yet another Rotterdam festival season. This time, not with an outdoor rave, but with an art festival. The organisation describes the Motel Mozaique Festival as a journey of exploration into new, but above all unique music, theatre, dance and art. What I personally love about this festival is that it takes place at various locations in the city at the same time. So you’re not restricted to one setting and you have the freedom to enjoy the festival where and when you want. For the music part – because that’s why you’re probably reading this – I’d recommend Jeff Solo, Bluntspeakers and Baba Stiltz on Friday 7 April in club Bird. A day ticket costs you 37.50 euros (quite pricey), but for that money you can enjoy loads of performances, special projects and entertainment.

Esmeralda’s tip: Give Soul ‘5 Year Anniversary’
Give Soul, who doesn’t know it? Benny Rodrigues, the tech-house legend from Rotterdam, is one of the regulars at this event. Although I don’t like techno at all (much too monotonous for me), last year Benny got my rave heart racing on King’s Day. His brilliant mix of techno and house provides enough variation that you won’t be bored! The rest of Give Soul features plenty more talent and the organisation will be celebrating it 5th anniversary at the start of April. Something to be celebrated of course, so during the night of 13 to 14 April, they are treating the tech-house lover to an awesome international line-up in the Maassilo for just 5 euros! That’s obviously peanuts, so even if you’re not such a fan, give it a go! From experience, I can assure you that you won’t regret it!
