Small retroactive pay rise

De onderhandelingen over een universitaire cao zitten nog steeds muurvast
Starting from 1 September, the wages of Erasmus University’s staff will be increased by 0.8 percent. Employees will receive a pay rise retroactive to 1 January 2016.
All universities affiliated with the Association of Universities in the Netherlands (VSNU) have agreed to grant the complete pay rise laid down in the Maximum Pay Rise Agreement for the public sector, signed in 2015. At the time, the universities agreed on a 5.05 percent pay rise, 4.25 percent of which has been paid out so far. The remaining 0.8 percent pay rise will be paid together with the employees’ wages for September.
Trade unions do not agree
The fulfilment of the Maximum Pay Rise Agreement was one of the subjects discussed at the collective agreement meetings held by VSNU and the trade unions these last few months. Negotiations on a new collective agreement have been temporarily halted.
The parties are having difficulty coming to an agreement on all the terms of employment. Three trade unions – FNV Overheid, CNV Onderwijs and VAWO – wish to reduce academic staff’s workload to ensure their long-term employability. It is not yet known when the negotiations will resume.
