EUR scholar Renske Keizer has been nominated for the title of Scientific Talent 2016. She is one of 25 nominees for the award that is presented by the science magazine New Scientist. The award was presented by the publication for the first time in 2015.

Family sociologist Keizer is Associate Professor of Sociology at Erasmus University and professor by special appointment of Fatherhood at the University of Amsterdam, the first chair in Fatherhood in the world. She conducts research on how fathers influence the well-being and development of their children. Over the past few years she has received a Veni grant from the Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research (NWO) and an Erasmus fellowship for her research. She is also a member of Young Erasmus, the university-wide network of young talented researchers.

Casting a vote for one of the 25 Dutch and Belgian nominees is possible until 8 September. New Scientist will announce the winner on 22 September. Last year the award went to Maaike Kroon of the Eindhoven University of Technology.
