Together with Ilse Paulis, Skadi-rower Maaike won the second gold medal for the Netherlands during the Olympic Games in Brazil.
Friday afternoon, the former student of Erasmus University won the final of the lightweight double scull category. Head and Paulis finished more than one second ahead of runners-up Canada. China finished third. The Dutch team had a good finish: halfway down the race the orange boat was still in third place.
Maaike Head is a former Medicine student at Erasmus University. She also attended the previous Olympics in London. Back in 2012 she finished eighth.
