Alongside Codarts and the Willem de Kooning Academie (WdKA), Erasmus University Rotterdam is launching the Rotterdam Arts & Sciences Lab (RASL). The Lab will offer a special double degree and promote better art research.
Closer cooperation between Erasmus University and Universities of Applied Sciences in Rotterdam will make it easier for students to follow a bachelor programme offered by two different partners. The programme takes five years. The RASL will also provide a platform where art and science can meet.
Easier for students
Several students are currently studying at two of the three institutions. In the current situation, students have to make all their own arrangements. Thanks to the new cooperation, however, it will become easier for students to do two programmes at the same time. Not all the faculties of Erasmus University are participating in the programme. However, Erasmus University College and the bachelor programmes of the Erasmus School of History, Culture and Communication (ESHCC) are involved.
Better research
The new lab will also ensure better research and data sharing between the two institutions. Furthermore, closer cooperation will improve the quality of art research. RASL also represents progress with regard to innovation, as it will now be easier to develop new forms of education. Codarts and EUR are already partners in the field of research, but the arrival of the new lab will hopefully allow them to embark on more projects of this type.
