Four Rotterdam pubs in top 100
Four pubs in Rotterdam are in the annual Café Top 100. The highest ranked catering business is De Ballentent, on the 22nd place.
Last year, De Ballentent was placed 17th on the list. ‘It’s hard to find something in the city that feels more like Rotterdam’, and ‘the only café that can be righteously called a pub’, is how catering magazine Misset Horeca describes Rotterdam’s meatball specialist. De Ballentent is located on the waterfront near the Euromastpark.
De Witte Aap in the Witte de Withstraat re-enters the list on the 49th spot. In 2009, the pub was elected best bar in the world by travelling guide Lonely Planet. Other taverns from Rotterdam in the top 100 are Wijnbar Janssen en Van Dijk (on the 62nd place, one higher than last year) in the Westewagenstraat and Dudok (65th after last year’s 44th spot), famous for its apple pies, on the Meent.
