Finally, Christmas holidays are almost there. That time of the year where the most delicious meals are shared with family and friends, and where we look forward to the future when we enter a new year. Rotterdam’s Things To Do item that you usually read in every paper edition of EM, went – for this time – online with a Christmas Holiday special. Enjoy!
China Light Rotterdam
7th December 2012 – 14th February 2013
Though China Light Rotterdam is being held until mid-February next year, it might be worthwhile to pay it a visit during the dark days around Christmas. The event is meant to bring light into the darkness with state-of-the-art sculptures from which a Chinese dragon as long as 100 meters and a replica of the famous Temple of Heaven are perhaps the most fascinating ones. The event area is located at the park near Euromast.

January 1st
This tip is only for those in good health condition! This is how Dutch dare-devils traditionally welcome the new year at January 1st. The basic idea is very simple. Put on your swimming-outfit, and dive into the ice-cold water of one of the events at lakes or sea-entries nearby. Events are held countrywide, but perhaps the biggest one is held at Scheveningen at exactly noon. There is also one organized at 3pm at Kralingse Plas in Rotterdam. If you catch a cold or get sick easily, this one might not be for you.
