The Supervisory Board of the Erasmus University Rotterdam has appointed Pauline van der Meer Mohr LL.M. as president of the Executive Board from 1 January 2010.
She succeeds Jan Willem Oosterwijk MSc, who is standing down due to ill health. Oosterwijk will continue to serve the board as an advisor. Bart Straatman will also be joining the Executive Board. He succeeds Kees van Rooijen MSc, who is leaving the EUR after eight years. Both new members are appointed for a four-year period.
Pauline van der Meer Mohr and Bart Straatman will make up the Executive Board together with the rector magnificus, prof.dr. Henk Schmidt. In close collaboration with the deans, the Board will play a leading role in realising the strategic vision 2013. In this period the Erasmus University Rotterdam (EUR) wishes to develop further as a world-class international university rooted in the city.
Pauline van der Meer Mohr
Pauline van der Meer Mohr (born in 1960) studied law at the EUR and at the European University Institute in Florence. She began her career in the legal profession and then worked for the Royal Dutch Shell Group in a variety of legal and management posts, including serving as a management member of the Nederlandse Aardolie Maatschappij (NAM). In 2004 she was appointed Group Human Resources Director of TNT. In 2006 she became Senior Executive Vice President and Head of Human Resources with ABN AMRO bank, a position she held until April 2008. She left the bank in 2008 to start her own consultancy, Amstelbridge Human Capital Strategies. In 2008 Pauline van der Meer Mohr also achieved a Master’s degree cum laude in Advanced Dispute Resolution at the University of Amsterdam.
Pauline van der Meer Mohr is a speaker and guest lecturer in great demand. Among other things she is also a member of the Supervisory Board for ASML and was recently appointed to the Programme Council of the Ministries of the Interior and Economic Affairs to advise both ministers on the new Dutch Visitors Programme, a visitor programme for students and young, potential future leaders.
Pauline about the EUR
Pauline van der Meer Mohr is married with four children and lives in The Hague. About her new job she says: “Our university has everything needed to make it to the top internationally. I look forward to collaboration with my prospective colleagues in all the EUR’s sections to realise the enormous potential together. In the run-up to the 2013 centennial it is a privilege to be able to fulfil the role of president of the Executive Board.” New board member Bart Straatman adds that “It is a fine challenge to assist in shaping the EUR’s strategic aspirations.”
Bart Straatman
Bart Straatman (born in 1956) has acquired wide experience in management and advisory positions in the fields of financial and operational management in the public sector. He achieved a Master’s degree cum laude in General Economics at Tilburg University. He then worked in local government for a considerable time, among other things as Financial Manager. He continued his career in consultancy, first as a partner with Bakkenist Management Consultants (1991) and from 1999 as a partner with Deloitte Consultancy. He advised a great number of organisations in the public sector, concentrating mainly on Operations Management and Organisational Design. Since 2005 he has been a member of the Board of Directors of the Lumens Group, a community-oriented firm for welfare and social services in the province of Noord-Brabant, where he held the operational management portfolio.
Bart Straatman is married with two children and lives in IJsselstein.
