So what was the most disgusting image she has been shown so far? \u201cThe one of the diabetic foot,\u201d says Tirza den Hertog, 18, a first-year medical student, when I ask her about the unpleasant afflictions she learns about during her lectures. \u201cBasically, there was nothing left of the foot. The arteries had gotten clogged to the point where the foot had necrotised.\u201d She provides the explanation without batting an eyelid, although I myself suddenly find the stroopwafels<\/em> Tirza has put on the table a little less tasty.<\/p>\n

It says \u2018bless this mess\u2019. \u201cObviously, I did some tidying up here today,\u201d she admits. \u201cAlthough in all fairness, the mess in here doesn\u2019t really get too bad.
