Why can\u2019t we just translate the tenancy committee website into English, D66 member Jessica van Eijs asked her party colleague, Ollongren.<\/p>\n<p>The minister responded with caution. You can\u2019t translate everything into English, she said. That doesn\u2019t happen in the judiciary either. Perhaps the students should use an interpreter.<\/p>\n\n\t<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Interpreter<\/h2><p>PvdA Member of Parliament, Henk Nijboer, thought that was crazy. He himself found it difficult to find information on the tenancy committee website. Imagine how a Chinese student would struggle. \u201cYou\u2019d then have to ask an interpreter to say: \u2018my rent is eighty euros too high.\u2019 That can\u2019t be a serious proposal, can it? It wouldn\u2019t be difficult to translate the website into English, right?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Yesterday, despite the Minister\u2019s objections, the parties D66, GroenLinks, PvdA, VVD and ChristenUnie submitted a motion to \u201cmake the essential parts of the tenancy committee\u2019s website available in English\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Ollongren didn\u2019t provide any further objections, because these groups together formed a majority. She called the motion \u201chelpful to ensure that foreign students can sufficiently understand the possibilities open to them.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\t\n\t<div data-name=\"acf\/persons\" class=\"mt-6 md:mt-8
