In addition, the society will not be allowed to attend formal academic events and the University\u2019s Eureka Week for the time being.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">More RSC\/RVSV<\/h2><ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.erasmusmagazine.nl\/en\/2018\/01\/08\/universiteit-beeindigt-relatie-met-rsc-rvsv-per-direct\/\">University severs ties with RSC\/RVSV, effective immediately<\/a><\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.erasmusmagazine.nl\/en\/2018\/01\/05\/misstanden-bij-ontgroening-rsc\/\">\u2018Deplorable incidents during RSC\u2019s hazing activities\u2019<\/a><\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.erasmusmagazine.nl\/en\/2017\/05\/31\/rvsv-2\/\">&#8216;Ketelaars&#8217; act of betrayal&#8217;: why RVSV and RSC are going to merge<\/a><\/li><\/ul><h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Anal inspections<\/h2><p>These measures were taken in response to BNN\/VARA\u2019s TV show <em>Rambam<\/em>, which filmed several hazing rituals in the Netherlands with hidden cameras at the start of the current academic year. In the show, which will be broadcast this Thursday, \u2018undercover first-year students\u2019 relate stories about several shocking events they witnessed during RSC\/RVSV\u2019s introduction period.<\/p>\n<p>For instance, people are alleged to have stepped on other people\u2019s heads, a prospective member is said to have fallen against a bollard following a slap in the face, incurring a head wound or even a concussion in the process, and male first-year students were supposedly forced to check each other\u2019s anuses for ticks while taking showers.<\/p>\n\n\t<div data-name=\"acf\/quote\" class=\"align\" >\n\t\t<div class=\"\">\n\t\t\t<figure data-component=\"quote-with-author\" class=\"@container\">\n\t<blockquote class=\"text-md italic @2xl:text-xl @4xl:text-2xl text-purple\">\n\t\t\u2018Compulsory check-ups of each other\u2019s behinds were not a matter of policy, but we cannot rule out that this order may have been given\u2019\n\t<\/blockquote>\n\n\t<\/figure>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">&#039;Stress and fatigue&#039;<\/h2><p>Although De Lange was keen to emphasise that his society \u2018acknowledges its own failure\u2019, the president also stated that incorrect facts were mentioned in the report. For instance, according to the society, the prospective member who was taken to hospital during a hazing ritual did not lose consciousness because of a slap in the face and the resulting fall backwards, but due to a \u2018combination of stress and fatigue.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>The society also claimed that the story that \u2018people had stepped on other people\u2019s heads\u2019 was incorrect. \u201cRSC\/RVSV has thoroughly investigated this matter, and there is no evidence whatsoever that this happened. We had assessment interviews with all 350 first-year students who took part in the introduction period, and this was not brought up in any interview.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Having a great time, without any worries<\/h2>\n\t<div data-name=\"acf\/quote\" class=\"align\" >\n\t\t<div class=\"\">\n\t\t\t<figure data-component=\"quote-with-author\" class=\"@container\">\n\t<blockquote class=\"text-md italic @2xl:text-xl @4xl:text-2xl text-purple\">\n\t\t\u2018All members of our society must be able to have a great time, without any worries, and to make friends for life\u2019\n\t<\/blockquote>\n\n\t<\/figure>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n<p>De Lange was unable to confirm or deny the \u2018tick incident\u2019 in the showers. \u201cIt is true that male prospective members take showers together during the introduction period. And we do advise prospective members to inspect each other for ticks, because the introduction period is held in a wooded area and ticks can be extremely dangerous. Compulsory check-ups of each other\u2019s behinds were not a matter of policy, but we cannot rule out that this order may have been given.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The society\u2019s statement concluded with a vow that RSC\/RVSV considers any form of transgressive behaviour unacceptable. \u201cAll members of our society must be able to have a great time, without any worries, and to make friends for life, now as well as one hundred years from now.\u201d In addition, the society promised that freshers will no longer be subjected to any form of physical contact during the 2018 hazing activities \u2018and
