This will also involve consolidating its four research programmes.<\/p>\n<p>According to Hutter in an EM interview, the The Hague institute\u2019s main challenge in the next few years will be creating a clearer profile. \u2018Whenever I enter the building, I can tell how passionate we are and what expertise we have, but we could stand to make this more obvious to outsiders.\u2019<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Read the interview<\/h2><ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.erasmusmagazine.nl\/en\/2016\/01\/28\/as-a-small-institution-we-must-co-operate-with-others\/\">\u2018As a small institution, we must co-operate with others\u2019<\/a><\/li><\/ul><h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Looking towards the future and building things<\/h3><p>Hutter has been in charge of ISS for half a year now. The Institute is fresh from extensive restructuring, which involved some of its support staff moving to Rotterdam\u2019s Woudestein Campus. \u2018The restructuring is over and done with now; it\u2019s a done deal,\u2019 Hutter said. \u2018Now we can look towards the future and start building things.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>They are working on a vision for the future, designed to give ISS a clear profile. \u2018Global development and social justice will be our main research theme, the umbrella subject on which everyone agrees, and a clear voice to others.\u2019<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">One umbrella research programme<\/h3><p>In practice, this vision means that the Institute\u2019s four research programmes will be merged. \u2018In truth, we\u2019re not big enough for four independent research programmes. We aim to establish an umbrella research programme in which everyone participates.\u2019 This would also allow for more interdisciplinary co-operation within the Institute.<\/p>\n\n\t<div
