Students briefly got the opportunity to express their feelings about the poor level of English spoken by lecturers and the limited study areas in the Polak building.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">#1 Variety in the Food Plaza<\/h3><p>Strategic Management student Pieter Diekman (24) is irritated by the limited choice at the Food Plaza. \u201cIf you want a healthy dinner you can actually only get nasi. Everything else is just full of fat. There should be much more variety, with more vegetarian meals.\u201d Bart Vroom (23), who is following the master degree in Accounting and Financial Management added: \u201cThere should be more diverse eating facilities. You can eat healthily in the Erasmus Paviljoen but it\u2019s more expensive there too. I\u2019d really like a canteen that always serves healthy meals and where you can enjoy eating an evening meal together.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"giphy-embed\" src=\"\/\/giphy.com\/embed\/axd6K8xUzTikE\" width=\"480\" height=\"270\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/giphy.com\/gifs\/king-bell-fries-axd6K8xUzTikE\">via GIPHY<\/a><\/p>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">#2 More space and water in the Polak building<\/h3><p>The Polak building was always certain to be among this top five.\u00a0\u201cThere is never enough space to study in the Polak building,\u201d explained Teresa Stacey (25). She is a Business Information Management student. \u201cYou need to wander around the entire campus to find a suitable place. What\u2019s more, the toilet areas in the Polak building are dramatic. The taps are so bad it\u2019s almost impossible to refill water bottles. And the toilets are usually filthy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"giphy-embed\" src=\"\/\/giphy.com\/embed\/7GklNKy2gfpII\" width=\"480\" height=\"800\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/giphy.com\/gifs\/dash-dashboard-36465d-7GklNKy2gfpII\">via GIPHY<\/a><\/p>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">#3 A ban on leaflets<\/h3><p>Students have had enough of them: the student association leaflets around the campus. \u201cIt\u2019s so irritating that you\u2019re constantly bombarded by them\u201d, said Econometrics and Economy Student, Hugo Galy (19). \u201cYou just want to walk somewhere and you\u2019re stopped by someone about something you have no interest in. The university should ban handing out leaflets on campus next year.\u201d<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">#4 Improved English<\/h3><p>Although EUR\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.erasmusmagazine.nl\/2016\/04\/06\/erasmus-universiteit-meest-multiculturele-universiteit-van-nederland\/\">is the most multi-cultural university in the Netherlands<\/a>, many students have noticed that improvements could be made as far as English is concerned. Psychology student, Celine Rook (20), really gets annoyed about some of the Dutch guest lecturers at her lectures. \u201cTheir English is often not great. As far as I\u2019m concerned, the university should only select guest speakers who can speak English well.\u201d International Public Administration student, Juste Smitaite (25), is also irritated by the lecturers. \u201cDutch students often ask the lecturers a question in Dutch, and lecturers then answer in Dutch. They then don\u2019t translate this for the English-speaking students. And they really should.\u201d<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">#5 Improved information<\/h3><p>Marieke van Harten (22) studies Pedagogical Sciences and is currently working on her thesis. \u201cThe information available about the thesis was actually really poor. For example, many students don\u2019t yet really know how they should refer to a table. This was only explained to me this year, and it became apparent that I\u2019d been doing this wrong for three years. The university should prepare us earlier for writing a scientific thesis.
