On Monday evening, the audience consisted exclusively of students. During the debate, organised in part by EFR, the student association for the Erasmus School of Economics, the party leaders made one of their final attempts of the campaign to win votes. Rob Jetten (D66), Frans Timmermans (GroenLinks-PvdA), Dilan Ye\u015filg\u00f6z (VVD), Joost Eerdmans (JA21), Henri Bontenbal (CDA) and Geert Wilders (PVV) faced each other in the debate, quite literally surrounded by students.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Student debate?<\/h2><p>But was it really a student debate? \u201cTopics that matter to students didn\u2019t really come up\u201d, says Daan, a medical student from Rotterdam. \u201cThey didn\u2019t even talk about the basic grant.\u201d Ariane, who came all the way from Groningen to attend, was also disappointed. \u201cThe topic of climate wasn\u2019t discussed at all. Just shouting and not listening to each other.\u201d Christie, a Public Administration student at Erasmus University, thought it wasn\u2019t that bad. \u201cI was actually positively surprised. I had expected even more bickering.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Wilders fails to impress<\/h2><p>\u201cI still don\u2019t really know who to vote for\u201d, Bas continues. \u201cBut I thought Ye\u015filg\u00f6z was very strong in the debate.\u201d Martien, a Marketing Management student in Rotterdam, thought Henri Bontenbal and Joost Eerdmans performed well. History student Alisha said Timmermans won the debate: \u201cThe way he spoke out against the genocide (in Gaza, ed.) I thought was very powerful. I think that\u2019s really important.\u201d According to her, Wilders came off the worst. \u201cThat populist talk doesn\u2019t work on students.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\t<div data-name=\"acf\/posts-list\"
