While the average Dutch person will have 0.7 per cent more to spend next year, students living away from home will lose 6.6 per cent: 113 euros per month. According to National Institute for Family Finance Information (Nibud), this is evident from the first miljoenennota<\/em> \u2013 annual budget \u2013 of the Schoof government.<\/p>\n

For the first time in years, Nibud has calculated the \u2018purchasing power\u2019 of students, as it does for other households. They cut back considerably.<\/p>\n

In 2023-24, students received a basic grant again, which was also temporarily increased by 164 euros per month for those living away from home due to rising inflation. Next year, this purchasing power measure will disappear again.<\/p>\n

The supplementary grant, care allowance and wages for side jobs will go up slightly, but this does not outweigh the disappearance of the inflation allowance.<\/p>\n\n\t
