Piles of bulky waste, dozens of fines in a single day, and a flood of <\/span>complaints. The student moving peak has just ended, and residents in <\/span>Kralingen have certainly noticed. It’s a regular occurrence, but Wim van <\/span>Tiggele from the Municipality of Rotterdam believes it can be more <\/span>sustainable and better managed. “You\u2019d expect future leaders to have a <\/span>broader view of the world.”<\/span><\/p>\n

It\u2019s like an anti-advert for IKEA. In the middle of Lambertusstraat, there are <\/span>mattresses, bed slats, drawers, and a bed frame. The cardboard boxes are already <\/span>completely soaked. You can\u2019t always be sure, but it strongly looks like dumped <\/span>waste from a student house, says Wim van Tiggele, manager of the Neighbourhood <\/span>Cleaning Team in Crooswijk and Kralingen. \u201cIn the past, students often had old <\/span>furniture from home or family, but now we mainly see new items from IKEA.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n\n\t
