Around twenty protesters stayed on campus overnight in tents outside the Food plaza. There are no intentions of leaving and more activities will be held throughout the day.<\/p>\n

The encampment night went \u2018fairly relaxed\u2019, according to one of the protesting students, who wished to remain anonymous. The night did not go uninterrupted, though. \u201cWe had people telling what we were doing is wrong, and someone played very loud music early morning. But all in all, it was a fairly calm night\u201d, shares the student. Protesters took turns as \u2018night watchers\u2019 to ensure everyone\u2019s safety. Security guards were also present.<\/p>\n

Here to stay<\/h2>

The protesting students and staff members do not intend on stopping their activities<\/a> until their demands are met by the Exectuive Board. \u201cEven if it takes a few days, we\u2019re here because there is a genocide in Palestine and we want to make our voice heard\u201d, shares the student. \u201cWe will stay until the university recognises and acknowledges our demands.\u201d Activities are organised for the day, such as talks and \u2018reading circles\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\t
