No fewer than 250 staff members and students received help from Victim Support after the attack on Erasmus MC by former student Fouad L.. The impact of the murder of lecturer Jurgen Damen and the arson at the learning centre on 28 September is still being felt by students and staff months after the incident. One of them is student Saad.<\/p>\n

In the days after the attack, third-year medical student Saad told EM how he holed up in a WC at Erasmus MC during that awful day and hid there, fearing for his life. Now, six months later, he is still not sleeping well. \u201cThough that\u2019s really not just to do with the attack \u2013 I was always a bad sleeper\u201d, he says with a smile, putting it into perspective. \u201cBut I did notice that it got worse after that day. I would lay awake thinking: what if he had<\/em> come in?\u201d<\/p>\n
