S\u00fcheyl and Tevfik immediately took action when a series of heavy earthquakes hit Turkey and Syria. Now, they are sharing a single nomination for student of the year. Although the two medical students are in the final phase of their medical internships, they didn\u2019t know each other until they went to Turkey in February to help victims of the earthquakes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After the violent earthquakes in Turkey and Syria, S\u00fcheyl* (24) and Tevfik* (26) flew to Turkey with a group of Dutch healthcare providers to help victims in the disaster area. They stayed for a week and set up a field hospital. Once back in the Netherlands, the interns raised more than 50,000 euros for those affected in Turkey. The two students then went back again to distribute the funds and to provide further help. S\u00fcheyl and Tevfik have now been jointly nominated for Student of the Year. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n\t
