The Cabinet will be able to give them the rise because the State has received \u20ac4.3 billion more than budgeted this year.<\/p>\n<p>Jeroen Dijsselbloem, the Minister for Finance, announced the windfall this afternoon. Since the economy is improving, both citizens and businesses have paid more tax and social security premiums in 2016. In addition, the government earned \u20ac1.3 billion by selling ABN Amro.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Increased employee pension contributions<\/h3><p>The Cabinet intends to use some of the money, \u20ac330 million, to increase the salaries of civil servants, teachers, police officers and members of the armed forces.
