While the official Eurekaweek cantus was less than a day ago, on Wednesday night, at football club Antibarbari and hockey club Never Less, another song and drink fest started. This cantus was a little different than some students were used to: with a beer from a shoe and a ‘punishment wheel’ for the students who did not sing loud enough or who could show some extra enthusiasm.<\/p>\n

Both associations organise many activities during Eurekaweek. The aim? To recruit members. Fleur Westdijk is part of the Eurekaweek committee of Never Less: \u201cLast year we also collaborated with Antibarbari to organise the same cantus, which was such a success that we wanted to organise it again this year.\u201d And that this cantus was again a success was clear: even before 7 pm all the chairs and tables were occupied.<\/p>\n

Another punishment was the Jesus-adt. <\/span><\/p>

It wasn\u2019t a cantus like the one of the Eurekaweek itself. Here, you were \u2018punished\u2019 if you did not do your best or were not enthusiastic enough. A number of members of the organising associations kept a close eye on the students and every two songs they would select a number of people to spin the \u2018wheel of punishment\u2019. Before they knew it, they had to take a \u2018Jesus-adt\u2019 (pour a beer in your mouth from a distance) or even \u2018take a shoe\u2019 (drink a beer out of your own shoe). Some punishments were a little less severe, such as having an entire table having to down a beer at once.<\/p>\n

Classics<\/h2>

Fortunately, mostly classics were played, so it wasn\u2019t difficult for many people to sing along. The music ranged from the Wilhelmus to a polonaise on Jan Klaassen de Trompetter<\/em> to sing-alongs by ABBA and Andr\u00e9 Hazes.<\/p>\n\n\t
