Six EUC students researched how female members of Rotterdam student societies act when they or their girlfriends are subjected to unacceptable sexual behaviour. \u201cThey take the situation into their own hands and prefer not to use the official complaints procedure.\u201d<\/p>\n

When they had to do research for an assignment, Ann-Awen Quenet, Jeanne Gachet, Renee Verhoeven, Emma Leeuwenhoek, Julie Dewaerheijd and Ellen Burghardt immediately knew that they wanted sexual harassment to be the topic. \u201cThree of us are Dutch, and they came up with the idea of looking into student societies\u201d, says Ann-Awen.<\/p>\n

As internationals, Ann-Awen, Julie and Jeanne didn\u2019t know the student societies. Julie: \u201cI thought: OK, that doesn\u2019t sound very exciting. I didn\u2019t think we\u2019d find anything interesting. But, my god, I was so wrong!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\t
