In an open letter to the EUR community, managers promise they will make an effort to create a safe and secure public space. They argue in favour of the creation of a space \u2018where women can express themselves freely, where their arguments will be judged on their merits and treated respectfully, and where the criticism they receive from their colleagues will concern their ideas rather than their character\u2019.<\/p>\n

In a nutshell, the authors of the letter stated that we owe all people on our campus, regardless of their gender, ethnic and\/or cultural background and sexual orientation, a safe and inclusive environment. They said that they support constructive criticism and encourage discussion on actual ideas, while they condemn deliberate attacks on persons belonging to the academic community, particularly female academics. By now the letter has been signed by more than one hundred managers of both academic and support staff.<\/p>\n\n\t
