For students Iris Wolves (water polo) and Marloes Keetels (hockey) it all is becoming very real now. Despite the state of emergency and protests in Japan, the Olympic Games will begin in Tokyo at the end of July. Training, testing and travelling: “The next few weeks are going to be extremely busy”, says Keetels.<\/p>\n

The past few months were very uncertain for the top athletes and students. \u201cI just didn\u2019t believe it when I heard that the Olympics were going ahead,\u201d says master student in Business Administration Marloes Keetels, with the Dutch hockey team a favourite for Olympic gold. \u201cThe Olympics mean a lot to me. Last time, in Rio, we got silver. In recent years I\u2019ve only thought about winning gold. I\u2019m really looking forward to it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Iris Wolves is going to the Olympics for the first time with the water polo team. The master student in Health Law is also relieved the Olympics aren\u2019t cancelled. \u201cI\u2019m so happy it\u2019s going ahead. I hope the event will be organised safely. I also think it\u2019s a good decision not to allow an audience.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\t
