Spanish student Nur * won\u2019t be going home this Christmas. She has never celebrated the season by herself before. Normally, she spends the holidays with relatives from all over Spain. \u201cA lot of students are going home, or went home earlier. I\u2019m interested to see how empty the Hatta Building and the campus will be.\u201d<\/p>\n

Nur ensures us she\u2019s doing fine. Although she is concerned about several other international students. \u201cThey feel lonely; they aren\u2019t doing too well. It can be quite daunting to \u2018spontaneously\u2019 participate in an event \u2013 online or offline \u2013 if you don\u2019t know anyone involved.\u201d She wishes the university would make it easier for lonely students to take part. Maybe organise events for students who don\u2019t know anyone else either, for instance.<\/p>\n\n\t
