The Dutch House of Representatives (Tweede Kamer) wants the Cabinet to help students who are facing delays because of the corona crisis. Minister van Engelshoven wants that too<\/a> but said yesterday that she first needs to have precise figures. Overburdened scientists will also have to bear with it a little while longer. She expects to be able to have more to say about this in November.<\/p>\n

Do everything imaginable to avoid delays<\/h2>

The PvdA (Labour Party) had already wanted to set up a solidarity fund for vulnerable students, yet the minister does not view this as a good idea. \u201cIf I were to say: \u2018Here\u2019s a bunch of money right here, just in case you should be graduating but are dealing with delays\u2019 \u2013 that won\u2019t help those students get through their studies.\u201d A great deal is already being done according to her. \u201cWe are doing everything we can to prevent them from running into unnecessary interruptions.\u201d<\/p>\n

If a group of students do end up graduating later next year on account of corona, the Cabinet is, of course<\/em>, willing to see if their costs should be compensated, as was the case last spring. \u201cThis has not only been voiced here by me, but also by the Prime Minister and the Minister of Finance. How many assurances do you want?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\t
