In our third instalment: Denisa Kasa raised funds and volunteers to help the survivors of the earthquake in her native town of Durr\u00ebs, Albania.<\/p>\n

Over 75 removal boxes are stacked up in the office of the association for Eastern European Students Association (EESA). At the beginning of next week, the boxes will be sent to the Albanian city of Durr\u00ebs, which was hit by a major earthquake in late November. \u201cIn itself, the magnitude (6.4 on the Richter scale) wasn\u2019t that extreme,\u201d says Denisa. \u201cBut since Albania doesn\u2019t have the right infrastructure to deal with an earthquake like this, it has had a major impact.\u201d<\/p>\n

School friend<\/h2>

Durr\u00ebs \u2013 Denisa\u2019s home town \u2013 sustained the heaviest damage. At least 51 citizens died in the quake, and hundreds were injured. Many of the damaged buildings have been declared uninhabitable, and hundreds of people are forced to survive the cold winter without a roof over their heads, according to the International Business Administration (IBA) student. Denisa also lost an old school friend to the disaster. \u201cHe didn\u2019t have time to run out of the building. And then his home collapsed.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\t
