The tone in the debate relating to the merger process between the ESPhil and ESHCC faculties suggests that the decision to go ahead with the merger has already been taken. I hope this is not the case, because a merger at this point in time is doomed to fail and would detract from the development of both faculties. I can\u2019t help looking at my study environment from the perspective of a mature student (68) of the dreaded type: someone with experience. I am worried about both the merger plans themselves and about how they are being discussed. Are administrative considerations taking into account the consequences for students or are we seeing a bureaucratic delusion of an organisation that is mainly looking inward?<\/p>\n
