Dutch Pea Soup<\/h2>\n

\t\t\tThe product<\/strong> \t\t\t<\/p>\n

\t\t\t \t\t\t \t\t\tDutch Pea Soup is a dish that is typically being eaten during winter \u2013 preferably when temperature drops below zero degrees Celsius. The Dutch version of pea soup is typically much thicker in substance than the pea soup generally known in Germany or the UK. Dutchies associate pea soup with an \u2013 meanwhile \u2013 almost legendary long distance ice-skating event: Elfstedentocht<\/a>.\u00a0 Sabine decided to review this winter dish for you.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

\t\t\tThe Review<\/strong> \t\t\t<\/p>\n

\t\t\t \t\t\t \t\t\tWhen I enter L-building at campus a bit hastily with a richly filled bowl of soup, Sabine smiles when she catches a brief glimpse of the soup. \u201cI think I know that one\u201d, she says. \u201cI have tasted it during one of the International dinners when I first came to The Netherlands.\u201d<\/p>\n

\t\t\t \t\t\t \t\t\tCurious to taste, she doesn\u2019t hesitate long before sipping a bit of soup from the spoon. \u201cHmm. This one is pretty good\u201d, she admits right away. \u201cIt\u2019s also richly filled with vegetables and the sausage.\u201d<\/p>\n

\t\t\t \t\t\t \t\t\t\u201cThe pea soup is by definition quite a filling meal \u2013 in that sense perfect for winter\u201d, she notes. Though Sabine describes the taste as quite soft, she imagines that people from Mediterranean countries might not like the taste. \u201cLike in Holland, in Latvia winters are relatively cold, requiring nutritional meals\u201d, she explains.<\/p>\n

\t\t\t \t\t\t \t\t\tSabine admits that she has been eating it for lunch already this winter. \u201cBut I have to be in the mood for it\u201d, she adds. \u201cIt\u2019s nice for a lunch, but not every day.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/td>\n
