Minister Van Engelshoven claims she has \u2018effectively mitigated\u2019 the effect of the Van Rijn committee\u2019s recommendations. According to the minister, universities of applied sciences won\u2019t lose anything, while universities will lose no more than 2 percent starting in 2022.<\/p>\n

The cabinet has approved<\/a><\/u>\u00a0Van Engelshoven\u2019s proposal for limiting growth incentives for universities and universities of applied sciences and stimulating collaboration among these institutions. In line with the Van Rijn committee\u2019s recommendation, the funding of higher education will become less dependent on student numbers. In the minister\u2019s view, a more fixed funding model will provide more certainty and reduce competition.<\/p>\n
