Students Amber Meulenbeld, Marloes Keetels, Malou Pheninckx, Iris Wolves and Marieke Keijser will not experience the coming Olympic games from the sofa, just like we do. They have Tokyo 2020 circled in their diary and were hoping to study again after the summer with a medal in their pocket. Erasmus Magazine<\/em> follows their journey to the Olympics. They share their goals and dreams, but also their doubts and disappointments, especially now their main goal has been postponed.<\/p>\n

Paralympic rower Amber Meulenbeld: \u2018It is unexpected, but I have really found my passion in rowing\u2019<\/h2>

Amber Meulenbeld (20, research master Health Sciences at Erasmus MC) has always combined her studies with sports. Until two years ago, when a neurologist diagnosed a brain disorder. \u201cMy optic nerve is no longer functioning.\u201d She did not sit still, finished her bachelor, and soon rowed in Tokyo for the Dutch Paralympic team.<\/p>\n\n\t
