Musical and lyrical tips & tricks to improve your songwriting skills.
Do you enjoy writing songs, and would you like to learn some practical tricks to improve your writing abilities? Or, would you like feedback or help with one of your songs? Then, this workshop is something for you. It doesn’t matter in which genre you operate or how advanced you are, everyone can write songs.
Wednesday 10 March, 20:00-21:30 hour:
The first session focusses on musicality: creating original melodies, catchy chords, a good structure, etc. Bring your own song/idea, because we will look at that too. You will also get an exercise, which we will discuss in the next session.
Wednesday 17 March, 20:00-21:30 hour:
The second session elaborates on lyrics: topic choice, differences between different sections of songs, different ideas on how you can write your lyrics. And afterword’s, you will get a take home exercise.
Teacher: Lucas Vermeer
Lucas studied Liberal Arts & Sciences at Erasmus University College, but combined it with Codarts, where he studied pop music, focusing on keys and songwriting. Last year, he went to the UK to study songwriting as an exchange student. Now, you can find his music in Jemoerstaal, Release Friday NL, Made in NL and other prominent Spotify Playlists under the name of LUCAS.
