Putin’s Russia: Current affairs lecture by Professor Van der Zweerde
On the eve of the Russian elections, the result appears to be already determined: Putin has a huge lead in the polls, while his biggest challenger, Navalny has been prohibited from participation. Why are there still elections anyway? What drives Putin after already being in power for 17 years? How is Putin doing as President? What is the situation with the Russian economy, politics and society? Which geo-political direction can we expect from Putin in the coming years? And how does Russia relate to other superpowers, such as America or China?
A current affairs lecture by Russia expert, Evert van de Zweerde, about the latest situation in the biggest country in the world; a country currently making a comeback on the world stage.
Professor Evert van der Zweerde is Professor of Social and Political Philosophy at Radboud University Nijmegen. He is an expert in Russian philosophy and has been a frequent visitor to Russia since 1984.
