On 8 March Studium Generale, together with Wikimedia Nederland and Dr. Laura Braden, is organizing an Edit-a-thon on the occasion of International Women’s Day. The goal of this day is to add as many women as possible to Wikipedia, or to add or translate underexposed subjects, such as period poverty or medical conditions of women. In this way, with the knowledge we all possess, we can reduce the Gender Gap and at the same time make new, interesting subjects that deserve a larger audience more visible. At the end of the afternoon, we will take a festive look back at all the published articles (if the corona regulations allow it).

Wikimedia Nederland is the Dutch branch of the organization behind Wikipedia. They are committed to a world in which everyone can share free knowledge with others. On March 8th they will be present to tell us all about how Wikipedia works and how one writes a good encyclopedia article. On the day itself there will be a list of topics and sources which you can use to write an article or add to one. You can also help by translating articles to or from your native language. Your own input is, of course, also appreciated. Do you have an idea for a topic you would like to write about? After your registration you will receive more information on how to prepare an own topic!

Registration is necessary, no prior knowledge required. Join for the introduction on Wikipedia on 14:30 or 16:00hrs, or come in any time! Bring your own laptop!
