It is a beautiful, thorough travel book about a present-day Brazil that withdraws from stereotypes and invites further reflection. Also the literary work of the Lebanese-Brazilian Raduan Nassar, known from A glass of anger and Biblical agriculture will be discussed this evening.

Clarice Lispector, by biographer Benjamin Moser “The Marlene Dietrich of Rio”, was born in Ukraine and emigrated to Brazil at a young age, where she became one of the largest twentieth-century authors of the Latin American continent. She was invariably described by her readers as hermetic, enigmatic and mysterious. But also as deeply philosophical and emotional.
