Kees Moeliker (1960) is director of the Natural History Museum Rotterdam. He wrote the bestseller De eendenman (‘The duck man’) and two collections of animal columns that appeared in NRC previously. At home, he collects German binoculars, his children’s placentas and discarded organs.
